The Proposal

Nope, this is not a post about the movie!

This is the real deal!!

MITCH AND I ARE ENGAGED!!!!

Here's how it went down...

For Valentine's day Mitch cut out big letters from paper that said "BE MINE" and put them up in my room.

Yesterday morning my roommate, Courtney, and I went shopping. But before we left, she "forgot her phone" and went back inside to get it. But really she was taking down the letters to leave for Mitch's friend that was helping him.

Then we went shopping. When we got back I made lunch for myself and then my bishop knocked on the door and handed me a letter and said it was blowing in the wind. (Weird)

I read it and recognized Mitch's handwriting, but at first I thought it was just a sweet note. Written on it were a bunch of things that he loves about me that started with the letter, the first one was a B. 

Then I realized it was the letters from Valentine's day and walked into my room and they were all gone! (what the?!) Courtney then asked me if we need to go anywhere and I read the letter again. This is what the first clue said...

"You can't see them now, but on our first date we went here to try and see them"

That led me to the planetarium on campus, so Courtney drove me up there. (While I ate my lunch in the car.)

At the door out to the observation deck was the next letter and that clue said ...

"This is where we share something in common with an old man who had his first kiss..."

This meant my apartment from last year, where we had our first kiss, and an old guy walked by one day and told us he did! There, I had to knock on the door to get the next letter, and a box of wheatables, (so good! and he wanted to give me a snack) That clue said...

"We visited this place often waiting for the time when we could enter that building together"

Clearly, the Provo temple, where we went to talk a lot. And his car was in the parking lot, with the next letter, clue, and a tulip (my favorite flower!) So it was time for Courtney to leave me and I drove his car to the next place with the clue that said...

"just like last time you have to go it alone for now, but hopefully this flower reminds you that I'll never leave you"

That took me to a park we went to, a park where he also gave me a tulip. There, in one of the trees was a manila envelope. In the envelope was my last clue that said ...

something to the affect of "you're missing M&E aren't you? Hurry and come to this place and be with ME" So I looked at the directions and the map and did my best to follow them. I drove out in the canyon to Vivian park where there was a sign telling me to go across the bridge. In the snow I walked across the bridge to a letter with nothing written on it (huh?) then I looked around and saw another letter and figured I was supposed to walk that direction. Then in the distance I saw Mitch stand up and come out from behind some trees. Once I finally got to him, gave him a huge hug, he made me stand a little further away, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him! And of course ... I said yes!!

The rest of the day was spent with each other, calling family members, playing football, going to dinner, and watching a movie. Both of us couldn't be any happier! I love that I get to be sealed to my best friend for eternity!
