We were lucky to be part of the Moody's Spring Break vacation this year.
It was so much fun to finally show them where we live!
Day 1 - We rode the metro into DC and saw the Washington Monument and the White House. Then we walked to the Lincoln Memorial. I held Avery in my arms asleep on the walk. It was super windy and she did not want to fall asleep. She finally exhausted herself enough to sleep. Until I tried to put her in the stroller, then she woke up. We also went to the National History Museum and the best part was the (live) butterfly exhibit! Well, actually the best part for me was finding Avery's (toy) butterfly!! I realized it was gone at some point in the museum and thought it was gone forever. Then as we were going to the place where the (live) butterflies were, we passed a section we had already walked through, and Lori saw Avery's (toy) butterfly on the ground!! It looked like someone had moved it over by the wall. Thank goodness!! Avery loves that thing!!
Day 2 - We drove to Mount Vernon to see George Washington's house. It was really cool to see everything in the house and the view of the Potomac. While we were waiting to get into the house Avery got to the point where I couldn't hold her off eating any longer. So I left the group, and they went through the house. After we met back up, a worker overheard Lori tell me I should go through. So she took me to the beginning and didn't make me wait in line again! Thank you Lori for dealing with my crying baby while I walked through!
Day 3 - We rode the metro again to the National Zoo. Mitch was disappointed that he had to work most of the time they were here. But he did make it to the zoo with us! (Only took a short break to answer a work call while holding Avery.) It was cool to see so many animals and especially the pandas! The lion was cool too. We got a video of it standing up and roaring! Although it sounded more like it was coughing up a hair ball. The cutest part of the zoo was the polar bear named Avery!! I'm so glad I had her wear her fuzzy suit because it was chilly and it blocked the sun. And she was ADORABLE in it!!
Thank you so much Lori, Darran, Eliza, Talia, and Lydia for including us in your vacation!
