Avery Hague Carter - 6 months old

Avery is a half a year old! Each day it seems like time is going so slow, but then all of a sudden we have a 6 month old! When did that happen?
Avery has learned and grown so much in the past month!
Height: 26 1/4 inches (65%)
Weight: 15 lbs 11 oz (41%)
Head: 17 inches (77%)

Avery loves ...
... to roll and wiggle all around! I can no longer leave her on the bed for a second without barricading her in with pillows. We used to play on a blanket. But that doesn't last very long these days. She wants to be moving! My phone seems to be her biggest motivator.
... to play in her exersaucer. She gets really excited! She squeals and screams and plays with every single toy!
... to eat food!! Her favorites are apples, bananas, carrots, and pears. Other foods (sweet potatoes, prunes, squash) she just eats, but isn't eager like she is with her favorites. She also loves her mums and with my help is getting really good at eating them. She knows what her food looks like and gets excited when she sees it, even at the grocery store.

Avery learned or is learning ...
... to sleep better. She now sleeps at night with no swaddle at all! Thank goodness! She is still learning to sleep for longer periods but we are making improvements. She is also taking slightly better naps. All in all, we're making progress. She is also sleeping in her own room!!
... to sit up. That is, she's learning to do it. It's been a work in progress because she is always on the move. I'll sit her between my legs and she usually tries to turn around and climb on me. But we're working on it, and she's getting better.
... to put her pacifier back in her mouth. 75% of the time she does it correctly! But we're pretty pleased she's figuring that out!
... to make a variety of new noises with her mouth. The question is, how do we describe them? One, easy, she growls. It's the most adorable growl you've ever heard. And we're already teaching her that's what a cougar says. Two, she gasps in air. This one is difficult to explain, and we can't stand when she does it. She's always fine when she does it and apparently likes the noise it makes. Three, she sucks on her lower lip. She started doing this as I fed her mums and she would suck in pieces stuck on her lip. But now she does it all the time and it's really cute. In church she sounded like she was beat boxing at one point!

This month Avery ...
... grew out of her 3 month clothes and into all of her 6 month ones! She's growing!!
... lost a great deal of hair. But that also means her cradle cap is gone! She still has a lot of hair, it's just not as long.
... has shown us more of her playful side. She loves chasing or being chased by one of us, while the other is holding her. That is also the best way we've been able to get some real laughs out of her!
