Avery Hague Carter - 18 months

The fact that we have a toddler in our home becomes more and more clear every day. Avery is growing and learning quickly we are doing our best to keep up!

Avery's 18 month check up at the doctor was one to remember. First of all, she did great! She hardly complained when the doctor checked her and she only cried for a few seconds after her shots. Every previous appointment the doctor has barely been able to check anything because Avery cried so hard. The best thing about her appointment was her interaction with Dr. Kelly and the medical student shadowing her. Avery laughed at nearly everything they were saying!

Med student "What if I say hippopotamus? Is that funny? Hippopotamus!"
Avery "hahaha!"

She was being so silly!

Then while Dr. Kelly was asking me questions, Avery felt the need to answer all of them. "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah." The doctor decided to test Avery,
Dr. "Do you like puppies?"
Ave "Yeah."
Dr. "Do you like shots?"
Ave "Yeah."

Ha! Nice try little one!!

Weight: 24 lbs 10 oz (76%)
Height: 32.25 inches (66%)
HC: 18.5 inches (71%)
Teeth: 11

Avery is talking a lot these days. For the most part she is constantly speaking gibberish, with all of the attitude and inflection she can muster. I'm not sure where she gets it all! She also knows a lot of words. Some of these words are easy to understand, but most of them only Mitch and I understand. And, obviously, some of them aren't really words, but noises.
Avery says...
Momma
Daddy
belly
hi
hello
PJ
more
yeah
no
moo (cow)
baa (sheep)
woo woo (dog)
nose
bird
bear
shoes
go dog (always together)
baby
uh oh
and she can sign please but won't try to say it!

Avery is still very energetic and never stops moving. She loves to play at the park and has learned how to go down slides. She has learned to feed herself with a spoon but still needs some help. She loves to put her socks and shoes on ... and then take them off in the car.

She loves to dance. When any kind of music plays she sways her body or her head side to side. She loves to bring us a book, sit on our lap, and read. Then she gets another book, and another, and another. She unzips everything she can find. The diaper bag, Daddy's work bag, her pajamas, the couch pillows.
