Goodness, I'm tired just blogging about how much we traveled and did! But it was good!
On day four we journeyed into Ohio.
I, of course, couldn't be so close and miss b.a. Sweetie. It's this HUGE candy store where you can buy everything in bulk. And I mean everything! We only got an assortment of candies, but the store is just fun to walk through! I also love sharing things with Mitch where my family has been.
While we were in Ohio we took a small detour and drove up to Kirtland, OH.
We only had time to visit the area of the Whitney Store and the saw mill and other houses.
It was nice to take a tour with the missionaries there and learn some new stories.
Mitch has never been to Kirtland so it was a great experience for both of us.
We particularly enjoyed being in the rooms where Joseph Smith received so many revelations for the Doctrine and Covenants. It really strengthened our testimonies in a new way to be in the same place where so much happened in church history.
They were done giving tours at the temple by the time we got there, but we took a quick drive by picture and made a plan to come back soon.
We stopped for dinner that night close to Pittsburgh and enjoyed another Food Network restaurant.
You may have noticed that there is no "Welcome to Pennsylvania" sign either. We took a little extra time and decided not to drive on the toll road. It really didn't add too much time onto our journey. We ended up driving on a bunch of old highways, and all of a sudden we saw signs that said to "keep Pennsylvania clean". Apparently there's no welcome sign when you drive on the back roads. We are pretty sure we were in Amish country at one point when we passed a guy with a horse and buggy, but who knows if that's really true. We had an adventure that's for sure!!
